Artists’ Legal Services Ottawa (ALSO) is a non-profit corporation run by volunteer lawyers, creatives, and law students striving to empower creators in the Greater Ottawa Area with the legal and business tools they need to leverage their creativity to business success.
Through workshops, conferences, online resources and legal referrals ALSO aims to educate Canadian artists on the legal and business tools available to them so they may build thriving, sustainable businesses. We partner with like-minded organizations to provide unique opportunities that allow artists to connect with lawyers, business mentors, and leading scholars across the region, and country.
ALSO provides legal education and informational resources to creators of all disciplines who may not be able to access more expensive alternatives.
ALSO is not a legal clinic.
We connect artists to legal counsel that can provide relevant legal information or advice.
