Artists’ Legal Services Ottawa (ALSO) is a federally registered non-soliciting not-for-profit organization in the province of Ontario, operated by a dedicated group of volunteer lawyers, artists, and law students striving to empower local creators with the legal and business tools they need to achieve business success.

ALSO provides legal education and informational resources to creators of all disciplines across the National Capital Region who may not be able to access more expensive alternatives. Since 2013, ALSO has facilitated and coordinated educational sessions aimed at informing artists on a variety of legal issues that impact their artistic practices and businesses.

Through workshops, conferences, online resources, legal referrals, and more, ALSO aims to educate Canadian artists on the legal and business tools available to them so they may build thriving, sustainable businesses.
